Singapore is a top-3 global oil-trading and bulk-liquid storage hub, and the physical spine of that position sits on Jurong Island — the ~3,000-hectare reclaimed complex JTC and EDB built to concentrate the country's energy and chemicals industry — alongside Jurong Port, Singapore's dedicated bulk-cargo gateway. Two distinct company layers serve this capability, and buyers evaluate them on opposite stacks. Terminal operators own the assets: independent tank farms and jetties measured in millions of cubic metres, judged on throughput and capacity (m³), berth/jetty depth and VLCC access, and product range (clean and black petroleum, petrochemicals, low-pressure gas, LNG). The demand picture is being reshaped by the energy transition rather than shrinking. Terminals are repurposing for sustainable and marine fuels — Vopak's Sebarok site now blends biofuels for bunkering, and multiple operators hold ISCC EU/Plus certification for biofuel and SAF feedstock. New capacity is being pointed at ammonia and LNG/methanol bunkering (an MPA priority under Singapore's maritime decarbonisation and multi-fuel bunkering push), with Vopak's Penjuru site adding dedicated ammonia and methanol storage. Underground repurposing continues through JTC's Jurong Rock Caverns, the region's first commercial underground liquid-hydrocarbon storage, and LNG import capacity is expanding at the SLNG terminal. For contractors, an ageing tank population plus stricter integrity regimes keep API 653 inspection, repair and turnaround work structurally firm even as some legacy petroleum capacity is re-tasked. Note the government-sensitivity boundary: SLNG (regulated by EMA) and Jurong Rock Caverns (JTC) are national infrastructure assets, not conventional cold-outreach targets.
