Sector
Precision Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing

Dimensional measurement and verification of machined parts against drawings using coordinate measuring machines, optical and laser systems.

Covers first-article inspection, in-process checks and gauge calibration. Buyers select on measurement accuracy, reporting format and laboratory accreditation. The companies on the record holding this capability are collected on the Singapore Industry Index’s list of Leading testing, inspection & calibration companies in Singapore.

The field

Buyers who commission dimensional work are really buying certainty, and they read a supplier by its instruments and its paperwork. The core arsenal runs from the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) — bridge, gantry or portable arm — through vision (video) measuring systems, optical and laser scanning, and industrial CT for internal geometry and porosity, down to form and surface-roughness testers, contour measurement and gauge calibration. What separates a credible lab is accuracy stated with an uncertainty budget and, above all, metrological traceability to national standards — in Singapore via the National Metrology Centre and evidenced by SAC-SINGLAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, recognised internationally through the ILAC arrangement. The deliverable is a report a customer's quality team can defend: GD&T evaluation, nominal-actual colour maps, and formal First Article Inspection (FAIR / AS9102) or PPAP documentation.

The Singapore field splits into three overlapping camps: global instrument makers (Mitutoyo, ZEISS) running regional metrology and calibration; independent third-party ISO 17025 calibration and testing labs; and a scanning-led tier plus in-house metrology rooms inside precision machinists. Together they feed aerospace, semiconductor and wafer-fabrication equipment, medical devices and general precision engineering — sectors where an un-traceable certificate is not an option.
