Distributors — Brenntag, IMCD, Azelis, Univar Solutions, Barentz, DKSH and Connell — are evaluated on principal portfolio, local warehousing/blending and regulatory/technical support; Singapore functions as their APAC hub, with Azelis running a Regional Innovation Centre for food and nutrition and Brenntag having bought local distributor Aik Moh to deepen its South-East Asia footprint.

The structural shift is decisive and sustainability-led. JTC's "Jurong Island 2.0" vision reframes the island around sustainable materials, circular and bio-based chemistry: Arkema now runs bio-circular Rilsan polyamide-11 and Oleris oleochemicals from castor beans, Croda's Seraya Avenue site is RSPO-certified for palm-based ingredients, Kuraray makes EVOH barrier resin for lighter recyclable packaging, and Sumitomo Seika is expanding super-absorbent-polymer capacity for regional hygiene demand. EDB and JTC are simultaneously pushing electronic-materials and advanced-additive growth over the older commodity-cracker base. The practical implication for the Index: producers with a verifiable island plant are the anchor records, while the distributor layer is a wide, contactable outreach base — but the two must never be conflated, because a buyer sourcing a formulated specialty differs entirely from one specifying an additive against a plant.
