Aerospace surface treatment covers the special processes that finish and protect aircraft and engine components — anodising, electroplating (hard chrome, cadmium, electroless and electrolytic nickel), chemical processing, passivation and chromate conversion, thermal spray (HVOF, plasma), shot peening, painting and dry-film lubricant, and the adjacent non-destructive testing (NDT) that follows them. A buyer or OEM evaluates a shop on three things before anything else: process breadth (can one accredited house do your anodise, plate, chem-process, paint and NDT under one roof, or must the part travel?); Nadcap special-process accreditation, which is the licence to bid — no Nadcap, no work on flight hardware, and the number of Nadcap Merit Awards signals audit maturity; and OEM approvals plus traceability — the airframe- and engine-maker's own sign-off (CAAS SAR 145, EASA/FAA 145) layered on top of AS9100. The record makes the accreditation scope legible, because that scope, not the company's size, decides what it can touch.
Singapore's field is narrow and clustered. Merchant process houses sit in the northern and western industrial belts — Woodlands (ATC, Rexadvance) and Joo Koon / Tuas (ACP, Praxair) — feeding the aerospace MRO and OEM base around Seletar Aerospace Park and Loyang. Two models coexist: OEM-captive surface-treatment shops run inside the large integrators as part of a repair flow, and independent Nadcap-accredited process houses that take work from many customers on a merchant basis — the latter are what this capability records. Global majors are represented by Praxair Surface Technologies (Linde) for thermal spray; the deepest home-grown breadth sits with ATC and ACP, both Nadcap-accredited across multiple special processes.
