Industrial Automation & Robotics

Factory-floor automation for fabs, refineries and offshore plants — not building services.

Machine-vision shops here are mostly under twenty people and develop their own inspection and guidance systems rather than reselling camera hardware; the panel builders are founder-run houses in Woodlands, Tuas and Yishun.

Four capabilities define industrial automation and robotics in Singapore: factory and industrial automation system integration (18 verified firms), PLC and controls (17), machine vision (16) and condition monitoring and predictive maintenance (12). The work is factory-floor, not building services. System integrators assemble PLC, SCADA, MES and robotic-cell installations for plant and production engineers; Mitsubishi Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider and Omron each run a Singapore factory-automation partner programme, certified and staffed separately from their building-automation channel. PLC and controls firms are smaller — founder-run panel-fabrication houses in Woodlands, Tuas, Ang Mo Kio and Yishun that build P&ID-driven safety and shutdown panels and motor control centres. Their clients are semiconductor fabs, petrochemical plants, refineries and offshore and marine operators, not facilities managers. Machine-vision shops are smaller still, most under 20 people, developing inspection and guidance systems rather than reselling camera hardware. Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance is the newest grouping, tightened around firms that engineer their own sensing and analytics. Robotic work cells fold into system integration — local firms market "robotic system integration" and "turnkey automation" rather than the cell terminology. The population skews to engineering SMEs that lack public visibility, distinct from the building-automation and IT-integration firms covered by adjacent hubs.

Capabilities
6 sub-sectors
01 Automation system integrator in Singapore

Integration of separately sourced hardware and software — PLCs, robots, drives, sensors, machine vision and instrumentation — into a functioning production or process system. Scope spans specification, panel build, programming, installation and commissioning. Buyers assess control-vendor certifications, sector references and post-commissioning support.

02 Control and instrumentation services in Singapore

Field instrumentation and control systems for process and utility plants — sensors, transmitters, analysers, control valves, control panels and PLC/DCS/SCADA. Scope covers instrument selection, loop wiring, calibration and commissioning. Buyers assess hazardous-area certification, calibration traceability and process-sector references.

03 Factory automation services in Singapore

Design, assembly and commissioning of automated production lines and machinery. Work covers PLC and SCADA programming, HMI, motion and servo control, pneumatics, conveyors and safety interlocking. Buyers select on sector experience, control-platform expertise (Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron) and machinery-safety compliance.

04 Machine vision services in Singapore

Camera, lighting and image-processing systems for automated inspection, measurement, part location, robot guidance and code reading. Deployed for defect detection, dimensional gauging and traceability on production lines. Buyers select on inspection accuracy, cycle time and integration with PLCs and robots.

05 Robotics integration services in Singapore

Selection, installation and programming of industrial and collaborative robots for welding, assembly, machine tending, pick-and-place, palletising and dispensing. Work includes end-of-arm tooling, cell layout, safety guarding and cycle-time optimisation. Buyers assess robot-brand experience (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots) and application references.

06 Warehouse automation services in Singapore

Automation of storage and material movement in warehouses and distribution centres. Systems include automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), conveyors, sortation and warehouse-management software integration. Buyers select on throughput, footprint and WMS/ERP interfacing.
