The company

Mikron Singapore is one of only five production sites of Mikron Automation worldwide — the Swiss group's assembly-systems division — and the R&D centre for an entire assembly platform, the EcoLine, which runs at up to 40 cycles a minute and is validated for pharmaceutical cleanrooms. From 61 Tai Seng Avenue, the site sells, engineers, builds and supports automation systems for five Asian markets: India, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

01

The Asia-Pacific centre of excellence

Mikron describes its Singapore site as the "center of excellence for India, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan", and gives it three jobs: sales and customer service for those markets, manufacturing of automation systems for those markets, and R&D for the group's EcoLine assembly platform. All three run from one floor at 61 Tai Seng Avenue with a staff of more than 60.

The site is older than its Swiss ownership. It was founded in 1996 as Integral Systems Pte Ltd, a Singapore automation builder, and acquired by Mikron at the end of 2007 — so the group inherited an established Singapore engineering team with a decade of its own history. Nearly two decades on, that team gives Mikron's Asian customers a builder, a spare-parts counter and an engineering desk in their own time zone.

02

A platform engineered in Singapore

The EcoLine is Mikron's scalable assembly platform for products "that fit in the palm of a hand", and Singapore is its R&D centre. The specification is concrete: up to 40 assembly cycles per minute, up to 12 process stations per module, indexing repeatability of ±0.02 mm, single- or double-module base machines that can be linked together and combined with manual workstations.

The platform is built for regulated production. The standard cell is compatible with ISO 7 (class 10,000) cleanrooms, validated according to GAMP 5 and compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 — the qualifications pharmaceutical and medtech plants demand before a machine is allowed near a drug-delivery device. At the low end of the range, the EcoLine Mini packages the same process-station technology into a very-low-volume cell for clinical and regulatory builds, so a customer can scale from lab quantities to mass production without redesigning the process.

03

Pharma and medtech first

Complex, precise assembly for the pharmaceutical and medtech industries is the site's stated specialism, and the group's device list shows what that means in practice: auto-injectors and pen injectors, safety syringes, pre-filled glass syringes, dry-powder and metered-dose inhalers, wearable patch pumps, molecular and rapid diagnostics, IV catheters and their valves, filters and regulators. Mikron supports customers' FDA, GMP and GAMP 5 compliance documentation alongside the machines themselves.

Behind the Singapore team sits an installed base few automation houses can match: Mikron Automation counts 50 years in assembly automation, more than 4,500 assembly and test systems installed worldwide, and over 100 projects delivered a year across its five sites in Boudry, Denver, Singapore, Shanghai and Kaunas. The division also serves automotive, electrical, industrial and consumer-goods manufacturers where high-volume precision assembly is required.

04

The Swiss parent

The parent is Mikron Holding AG, founded in Biel, Switzerland in 1908 and traded on SIX Swiss Exchange under the ticker MIKN. For the 2025 financial year the group reported net sales of CHF 381.9 million, up 2.1 per cent, an operating profit of CHF 39.5 million — a 10.3 per cent margin, up from 8.5 per cent the year before — and a net profit of CHF 32.5 million, on a workforce of around 1,570.

The Automation division Singapore belongs to is the larger and faster-growing of the group's two segments: net sales of CHF 250.1 million in 2025, up 7.2 per cent, against CHF 132.0 million, down 6.2 per cent, for Machining Solutions. Automation ended 2025 with an order backlog of CHF 212.8 million and employs more than 1,000 people globally. For a customer commissioning a machine in Singapore, that is the balance sheet standing behind the delivery.
