Capability
Tool, die and mould making in Singapore
Design and manufacture of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and injection moulds used to form or cut metal and plastic in production. Work combines precision machining, EDM, grinding and polishing of tool steels. Buyers select on tolerance, mould class, steel grade and lead time.
Buyers judge a tool, die or mould maker on a narrow band of hard specifications. The first question is mould/die type — plastic injection moulds (single- and multi-cavity, hot-runner, stack, two-shot/2K, insert and unscrew tools), stamping and progressive press dies, die-casting dies, and the jigs and fixtures that hold and gauge the part. Serious enquiries then specify mould class (SPI/DME 101–105 or the customer's own life standard), cavitation count and the clamping tonnage the tool must run in — Singapore shops quote work from roughly 15 to 1,600 tonnes. Precision is stated as tolerance (single-digit-micron features and wall sections below 0.2 mm at the top end), on named tool steels and tungsten carbide, hardened and ground. Above all, buyers want in-house tryout presses, mould-flow analysis and CMM metrology — evidence the tool will be sampled and corrected under one roof.
Singapore's mould cluster is small in headcount but disproportionately high-value, concentrated around Tuas, Loyang, Ang Mo Kio and Joo Koon. It anchors the country's precision-engineering base and feeds four demanding end-markets — medical and MedTech, semiconductor, consumer electronics and automotive/mobility — where ISO 13485 cleanroom moulding and micron repeatability are the price of entry rather than a differentiator.
