Agrochemicals and crop protection in Singapore

Formulation of crop-protection products — fungicides, herbicides and insecticides — for Southeast Asian agriculture, built on formulation technology rather than large-scale active-ingredient synthesis. Buyers read a producer on formulation capacity and technology, active-ingredient portfolio, registration and regional proximity.

Agrochemical manufacturing in Singapore is a small but high-value formulation cluster — the making of crop-protection products (fungicides, herbicides, insecticides) for Southeast Asia's farmland, based on world-class formulation technology rather than large-scale active-ingredient synthesis. Singapore is attractive to the agrochemical majors as a regional formulation and supply base: it offers Jurong/Tuas chemical-hub infrastructure, strong IP protection and logistics to the region's agricultural markets (Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand). The buyer — a regional distributor or agribusiness — reads a producer on formulation technology and capacity (litres a year, formulation types), the active-ingredient portfolio it can formulate, regulatory registration, and proximity to the served markets. This slug is deliberately focused on confirmed Singapore manufacturing, not the many commercial/regional offices the majors also run here.

The honest set is two anchor producers, both in Tuas. BASF operates a crop-protection formulation plant at 33 Tuas Avenue 11 — its fourth Singapore production facility, a ~€40 million multipurpose plant formulating products based on its patented Inscalis and Revysol actives across six liquid-formulation technologies at roughly 7,000 kilolitres a year, enough to supply over 20 million hectares of Asia-Pacific farmland. Syngenta runs a crop-protection formulation plant in Tuas (JTC Chemicals Hub) making fungicide and herbicide formulations for Southeast Asian markets at about 6 million litres a year, with headroom to triple — which Syngenta describes as the most advanced formulation site in its global network. The research also corrected common assumptions: Denka and Sumitomo's Singapore plants make other chemistries (styrenics, MMA), and Bayer, Corteva, Adama and Nufarm appear to run commercial rather than manufacturing operations here — so the record stays tight and evidence-gated.
